To fully take advantage of these applications, the ability to manage traffic is of extreme importance. The ZyXEL ES-3148 is equipped with L2+ multi-layer ACL (L2 through L4) for QoS, 8 hardware priority queues, DSCP and WFQ scheduling algorithms. These bandwidth guaranteeing and priority optimizing features maximize bandwidth usage and provide premium quality network service. To optimize IP Multicasting applications, IGMP snooping is also supported. For flexible bandwidth control, the ZyXEL ES-3148 allows you to limit bandwidth usage in increments of 64Kbps. Complete, Multi-Layer ProtectionThe multi-layer ACL (L2 through L4) protection on the ZyXEL ES-3148 shields against potential network threats. You can create security settings by setting (L2 through L4) ACL parameters (such as MAC, VLAN, IP, Protocol type,TCP/UDP port and DSCP). You can also create up to 4K VLAN's to implement different security policies. For user access control, the ZyXEL ES-3148 supports port-based IEEE 802.1x user authentication from a centralized RADIUS server. For device access control, you can configure MAC freeze, MAC filtering and limit the number of MAC address learned on a port. The ZyXEL ES-3148 also comes with the intrusion lock feature designed to prevent unauthorized access. In addition, the ZyXEL ES-3148 is capable of providing enterprise-class L2 VPN with VLAN Stacking (Q in Q) to enhance security protection. Thus, the ZyXEL ES-3148 allows you to implement a strict Layer 1 through Layer 4 security protection. Convenient, Hassle-free Network ManagementSupporting a number of management methods (iStacking™, SNMP, Web, telnet and console port), ZyXEL's exclusive iStacking™ technology allows you to manage a switch cluster (of up to 24 ZyXEL switches) through a single master ZyXEL switch. This significantly reduces operational cost and provides flexibility in maintaining multiple ZyXEL switches. Network administrators can choose to manage the switch using the friendly web-based configurator or the convenient text-based CLI (Command Line Interface), including support for SSHv1/v2 and SSL encrypted sessions.
